Methods

Every Strandline report has a method section with its own sources, dates and definitions. The standards below apply to all of them.

Sources

• Web crawls. Public pages only, fetched at low request rates. Each report lists the sites or lists of sites crawled and the crawl dates.
• AI answers. Collected through each engine's API with web search turned on. We record the answer text, the model version and every cited URL.
• Search results. Collected for stated queries, locations and dates.
• Third-party data. Named in the report, with a link where the source is public.

Standards

• Every percentage has its sample size and date range next to it.
• Percentages are rounded to one decimal place. Counts are given in full.
• Definitions and exclusions are written out in the report's method section.
• Every chart and table has a CSV file on the report page.

Updates

Reports show a published date and, when revised, an updated date. Studies built on data that changes are re-run on the schedule stated in the report.
